Observation

2)a) The applicant plans to license the home for infant and toddler care. There are toys and games with small pieces in the living room and dining area that would be accessible to infants and toddlers and are small enough to pose a choking hazard. 2)c) There are several loose cords and a cable in the licensed space that are in areas that will be accessible to children. This includes a few cords running down the wall from the television, a cord from the surveillance camera near the entry way, a cord from the standing lamp in the corner of the living room, cords in a cabinet near the art supplies in the kitchen/dining area, and a cable sticking out of the wall near the toys in the dining area. 2)d) There are gallon-size plastic ziploc bags with art and play materials in the storage cabinet in the kitchen/dining area. This cabinet is accessible and the plastic bags would be accessible to children. 2)f) The sliding glass door does not have anything adhered to it as a visual cue to prevent children from walking into the glass. 3)a) There was a shaving razor hanging from the bottom of the shower caddy in the bathroom children will use. This would pose a hazard to children and cannot be stored in that location. 3)f) There is a play kitchen in the kitchen/dining area that is tall enough to pose a tipping hazard. It is not secured to the wall to prevent tipping. 4)c)i) There are a couple light bulbs in the dining room fixture that are not shatter-resistant as required. Children will be playing and eating meals in this area. 4)e) The water temperature in the handwashing sink was 145 degrees fahrenheit, which is over the limit of 120 degrees fahrenheit and poses a scalding hazard. 5)a) There are several electrical outlets in the licensed space that do not appear to be tamper-resistant (or covered) as required. This includes outlets in the bedroom, kitchen/dining area, and living room. 5)b) There are several accessible outlets in the kitchen, which are near the water source, that do not appear to be tamper-resistant or GFCI-protected as required. There are two outlets in the kitchen that are GFCI-protected, but do not appear to be tamper-resistant. There is one GFCI-protected outlet in the bathroom that does not appear to be tamper-resistant. 5)b) There is one GFCI outlet on the outside of the house next to the back door that is not tamper resistant. It is covered with a weather-proof cover, but it is not secured in any way so it would be accessible to children.
